Introduction
With the City Rail link and major redevelopment planned Henderson it is set to boom. Auckland Transport (AT), the Henderson-Massey Local Board, Auckland Council and Panuku Development Auckland want to improve connections to the town centre.
History
Auckland Transport has identified Henderson and Te Atatū as priority areas for walking and cycling improvements. The wider Henderson area (extending to include parts of Te Atatū South) has (or had pre-Covid Emergency Budget) funding first.
In 2018 AT got feedback on areas people would like to walk and cycle using a “drop a pin” exercise.
Bike Te Atatū ran a feedback session at One Sip Coffee in Te Atatū South to get some more input into our submission.
See Auckland Transport’s project page here.
Also see this Bike Auckland post about the consultation.
Outcome
The project is still in the planning stage.
Latest Developments
Bike Te Atatū recently (April 2020) had a meeting with Auckland Transport to discuss two cycle routes they will do further consultation on. There should be more news on this soon.
